This Day In World War 2

72 years ago today France was forced to sign an armistice with Germany at Compiegne, France. The terms were dictated by the Nazis in the same railroad car that Germany had signed the original armistice when they had been defeated in 1918. One year later on this date Germany began the invasion of the Soviet Union. They obviously failed in their efforts. And seventy years ago today Fort Stevens at the mouth of the Columbia River in Oregon was shelled by a Japanese submarine. A very busy day in history.
